Home inspectors performing services in Maryland had a deadline of 1/1/2008 to successfully complete the required State-approved training courses and assume liability insurance before licensure. After an inspector is in receipt of their license, they are required to present it for examination upon request.      Per Maryland's DLLR, it will be illegal for inspectors to perform residential inspections in Maryland after 1/1/2008 if they do not have a State-issued Home Inspector License. Additionally, DLLR states that inspectors in violation of this new law "will be subject to criminal charges, jail time and/or penalties."
